Our llamas, Rocko and Diego, were not from a laboratory but they were in danger at a local high-kill animal “shelter.” We were touched by their story, as clearly the pair had suffered severe neglect for many years before being confiscated by authorities. There did not appear to be any other organization or individuals willing or able to give them a home and we were very concerned that they might fall into the wrong hands and potentially be exploited for human profit.
We stepped up for them and transported them directly to a large animal vet where they were sheared and had their teeth and hooves trimmed the same day and were neutered a few days later. What a difference! Rocko and Diego have made themselves quite at home here and are getting used to the pampered life they so deserve!
